The rookie year of Critical Hype was an emphatic year. The significance of Critical Hype sent waves to the country of what to look out for and what to expect for the many years to come. So what do you expect from a new company, a company of dancers, photographers, video crew, and business planners? The best answer is to look at what they've done the past year and expect to repeat and raise the bar higher for the next year.

So where do we begin?

The first answer is a 3 digit name for an event, "360". There are no more words left to describe the importance of this event. The energy, the vibe, the pressure, the challenge, the competition created this event to start 2008 off. Big ups for the crew to win this and not knowing what to expect from such a unique event. A crew of bboys from SKB, funk styles from Nu Sckool, and krumpers from Do or Die, collaborated to form an ultimate freestyle dance crew, funny enough, naming themselves Toilet Funk 9.

After a few months, the free distribution of the 360 DVDs hit the streets, dance studios etc. This was a complementary DVD for the dancers and fans, thanking them for believing in an event that was never done before. For a new event to host more than 1000 people was a huge accomplishment, and the fans and the dancers were responsible for making sure the turn out was at maximum.

Then came Australia's fist online channel for dance, CriticalHype.com. The online channel was introduced as a new medium to showcase and promote dance in Australia. But what it brought was a new way to collaborate work with other companies to provide media coverage for they're events and tours. CriticalHype.com first worked with the Kaos fam, from Melbourne, a krump group responsible for bringing to Australia a krump sensation straight from Long Beach, California, Solow. He toured the major cities of Australia holding workshops, teaching the foundation of Krump. The full 22 minute video covers the workshops, interviews, and behind the scenes footage of the whole tour. The video is exclusive to Critical Hype.

Other events that CriitcalHype.com covered included the Australian BBoy Championships 2008, which witnessed the experienced crew form Melbourne, Fresh Sox, taking the title as the 2008 Bboy Champions.

To end the year, a new show was introduced to the online channel, a show to lead up to 360. The show is known as 360 Session. The online reality show features new freestyle dance crews, participating in an exhibition battle. The show's purpose was to educate the viewers with freestyle dance and to find out more about the thoughts and opinions of the dancers in Australia. The show is currently showing the first episode, with the second episode scheduled to release in January '09.

Like it states in the beginning, the rookie year of Critical hype was emphatic. All new ideas, and all successful. 2009 will be an even bigger year, with more events, more shows, and worldwide exposure.
