Luke aka Bboy Skywalker, spoke with CriticalHype.com just days before the 2009 Australian Bboy Championships. Luke, a member of the 2007 ABC champions SKB, has taken some time to answer some questions leading up the event.

CriticalHype.com: Australian Bboy Championship is coming up, how’s your crew‘s preparation been?

Luke: Individually we’re prepared for the kill, we’ve been training hard with our solo skills. As far as routines which we’re most renowned for, not much progress! We’ll get in on it soon though, but this year we’re relying more on solo rounds to comp out.

CriticalHype.com: Last year Skb came as far as the second round, what are you gonna do differently to go even further?

Luke: We’re not going to do much “different” as in change our game plan or the way we dance to win the comp. We’re just going to represent harder, train harder and battle smarter as we have been throughout the year.

CriticalHype.com: Which crew competing this year, do you think is the favourite to win the competition?

Luke: Favourite crew for the fans: Probably SKB and JUSE because we’ve represented all over the place since 2000 and have gained huge support from everyone and everything.

Favoured to win! Freshsox! That’s if they are competing. They’ve won 4 out of the 5 champs that have passed.  That is some good odds right there.

CriticalHype.com: Which crew are you most excited to battle? Why?

Luke: We’re excited to battle anyone, but most “excited” to battle:

1. Freshsox; we have history! and the energy between SKB and Freshsox seem to clash a hell of a lot and when that happens you get a battle that’s on FIRE!

2. All Consciousness Crew; they have a tough squad this year; a lot of experience is backing up that crew.

3. JUSE crew; they’ve been taking us out since the beginning of this year, it’s time to exchange the favour. Look OUT!

CriticalHype.com: Which crew would you not want to battle? Why?

Luke: Not want to battle????  We’re starving warriors ready everything; we’ll battle everyone at once.

CriticalHype.com: Whos’ in Skb this year?

Luke: There are 2 SKB crews entering this year.
One crew which is automatically qualified and the other which had to qualify at the Redfern block party.

The Squad I’m in which is automatically qualified is:
Luke, Don, Lowe, Watto & Shiba.

Team 2 which is to Qualify is:
Allan, Alterry, Joey, Jeric & Ronnel


CriticalHype.com: In 2007, Skb won the Australian Bboy Championships, is 2009 the year to win it again?

Luke: Hell yea we’re in for the win this year! In saying that, we know “winning 1st place” isn’t everything, our mentality has changed over the years and we’re here to win respect. From SKB’s history and experience, titles and trophies can only do so much. We’re here to stain the scene with our flavour, burn our name in history with skills and let our characters become legends.

CriticalHype.com: What are some of the things to expect from SKB at ABC 2009?

Luke: Everything you’ve never expected and more. We’ve been training so hard that I’m always and I mean ALWAYS surprised by own crew members.

CriticalHype.com: What goes through your head when your battling in a comp like ABC?

Luke: I try to keep my mind clear, to much clutter makes you stutter. When I step onto the floor I keep in mind that it’s my floor and I defend it with all I can.

CriticalHype.com: Finally, give us your prediction on how far SKB will go in the comp?

Luke: Champions 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 20………..
