2011 Australias Got Talent finalists and 2010 '360' Champions, Instant Bun, fell short in their quest to repeat their championship at this year's 360, as they were dethroned at the semi finals in a battle against the multi talented 'Hundred Yen Bad Boys'. As the night went by, the battles were heated and exciting as the top 8 freestyle dance crews battled each other. Different elements of Street dance such as house, hip hop, popping, bboying, krump, jerking, locking, and other new experimental styles were all represented with passion and pride. In the end, former 2 time champions, 'Toilet Funk' took back what they lost last year, the 360 championship title.
The funky crew of Toilet Funk, a collaboration between Japanese sensation 'Dilated Nu' and Australia's Got Talent standout, 'SKB', put together a highlight reel of technical and exciting bboying and hip hop dance, to continue their domination of Street dance in Australia. But the night would also receive its share of controversies as the 'All Elements Krew” scuffled with opposing crew, 'DTF'. Both crews were disqualified however both would later on apologies for what happened, “We don't tolerate that in Street dance” explained Minhja of All Elements Krew. “That's why we dance, so we don't fight”.
This year we also witnessed the crowning of a new champion in the solo battles division. After a tiring preliminaries round of over 40 dancers, Daisuke Benson of Jigsaw Sneakers from Melbourne took home the title, facing 2010 champion 'Chux' in the finals, to claim his first 360 championship.
Also on the night, the 'Illagroovers' won their first title, as they defeated 'LA Swag' in the finals to become the 2011 Junior Crew champions. Mike 'Tiny Manifest' Flores took the solo title against another young hungry freestyle dancer, Jiggy Jaya, in the finals, in one of the most exciting dance battles of the night.
Overall the event was a huge success, it was exciting, hyped, entertanining and most important of all, the dancers and the crowd had fun.
"The energy and passion was amazing, could not stop smiling, the best entertainment on the block, when's the next event?" expressed Pioneer Australia's Marketing Manager, Collee Chappell.
