BIO

Jade Le Flay-Schrooder is a self taught dancer born and bred in the nations capital. Don't let that fool you - Jade is currently one of the most fierce hip hop freestyle battlers in Australia. Blessed with raw talent Jade is known for her musicality, groove and freestyling. Jades favourite styles are popping and bgirling.

Her achievements in Canberra are truly commendable as she has become one of the most well known and respected of dancers amongst the hip hop community. She began as a member Kulturebreak Crew at the age of 16, travelling around Australia, teaching at workshops and performing at schools and events. Jade continued to teach at Kulturebreak (Canberra's only dance school dedicated to hip-hop) and was eventually sought after by Canberra originated production and entertainment companies such as Grand Jester and Invazion Productions to choreograph and teach dance. During this time she also travelled to Sydney to enter battles and competitions. She is now a proud member of Canberra's all-girl crew, bpMafia, and Sydney's best all-girl crew, Deja.

Jade has now brought her skills to the big city of Sydney to spread her love for dance and to be a part of the ever growing hip-hop scene. At the fresh age of 19 years old, big things are expected to come from this passionate and driven young lady.

INTERVIEW

How would you describe your dance style?

The music determines what my style is each time I dance. So it could range from anything technical to raw or Groovy to hard hitting. Freestyling rules.

What continues to inspire you to dance?
The culture of Hip hop. I don't think I could be a dancer if there was no such thing. Dance is air to me but the culture is like the machine that creates the air.

As a dancer, what are your goals?
To be able to represent Australia at comps and battles held internationally.

What would you say to anyone aspiring to be a dancer?
Stay passionate, love music, take class and train. Oh, and NEVER stop learning, you are never as good as you can be. There's a mind boggle for you!

How often do u dance?
Everyday without fail. Even when I have broken bones, I somehow find a way to dance. Even if it's with my eyebrows. You can make some pretty cool isolation chorey with them.

Any shout outs u wanna give?
My crew here in Sydney, Deja and my homies back at home, bpMafia. Me best friends and family and also, my business partner Berni. We are currently working closely with clothing designers/dancers/photographers/artists/dj's to bring to you something epic. So watch out for the name ENCRYPTION, because it's going to be dope. Jade out.
