| BIO Brooke Tulloch is an independent dancer, choreographer and performer who has danced various styles since the age of five. She has spent most of her dancing life in Brisbane and has now relocated to Sydney, New south Wales. She has done styles from Ballet and Highland Dancing to Jazz and Hip Hop although Brooke’s passion is Street Hip Hop, which she has been teaching and choreographing since she was 15. Her choreography reflects raw Hip hop, although with a very distinctive style and musicality. She has been part of various crews/groups competing all over Australia, until her extremely passionate nature and desire to experience Hip Hop Dancing led her to Los Angeles to learn from some well known choreographers like:- Sho-tyme, Dave Scott, Shaun Evaristo, Lyle Beniga and many more. In 2005 she was featured on Hot source TV with her Hip Hop crew in Brisbane and she has also performed at many Nightclubs, Brisbane Exhibition, Auto Salon and Gold Coast Indy. More recently she has worked with artist ‘Duran Adhar’- on music video ‘Let Your Body Speak’ as Choreographer and Lead role, and performed/sub-choreographed for artist ‘Sammy Taylor’. She has also worked/performed with a group of Belly dancers who perform around Australia. Her accomplishments at such a young age are testament to her life’s passion for Hip Hop Dance and that is reflected in her teaching ability with all age groups. INTERVIEW How would you describe your dance style? Umm, well most people think I am very ‘gangster’ when I dance, I guess they mean ‘not feminine per say. But I would say mainly raw style but unique aswell, I want to be the only one that dances like me, have my own personality in my dance. Be inspired, and learn from others but don’t let it overcome what naturally wants to come out of my body when there’s music on. What continues to inspire you to dance? My Students, and in general watching people grow… Watching people share what they know with others and seeing people with more passion for dance than any other facet of their lives. More than any move, set, routine, choreography, seeing someone that is totally just dancing with all their heart is the most inspiring thing EVER. So passion I guess. As a dancer, what are your goals? To always keep learning and to not change who I am and how I feel for anything or anyone. To know that you can never learn everything or be perfect at anything-there’s always time to grow/more to learn. More physical goals would be-to train up with some inspiring/amazing people and make some cool accomplishments along the way. Maybe get some work in USA one day… What would you say to anyone aspiring to be a dancer? Love, Learn, Absorb everything… Try and learn from the people that experienced different styles first hand and also people that are keeping dance alive today… Aim high, Respect everyone and don’t forget to love yourself and love what you do. LOVE DANCING IN GENERAL How often do u dance? All the time, I want to dance wherever I go. I have had weird cravings whenever I go to shopping centres to start dancing… LOL… I try and dance everyday if not I watch it or talk about it or think about it… Any shout outs u wanna give? The people I first learnt of were Errol Cenita and Rock Yeend (Brisbane) so I will always be grateful to them for opening my eyes to it and bringing me into the world of Hip Hop. Lizzie Wicks is one of the dopest female dancers I know and I vibe off her like crazy! Heaps of people that have taught/helped and shown me more about what I love such as, Mel Hitchcock, Don Napalan, Jade Leflay Schrooder… INFLUENCES Just going to list them because there so many and for different reasons( I may forget some though…) Sho-tyme, Lyle Beniga, Keone Madrid, Kreus Lay, Deja girls, Lizzie Wicks, Sean Evaristo, Don Napalan, Super Dave, Too Much Bun, Buoyan Boys, Cedric Roxas, ohh soo many more I probably missed some of the best…Crap VIDEO CLIPS www.youtube.com/brooke090 CONTACT ME ON Youtube |
